Thanks!

I am going to be out of pocket off and on for the next several days, so it will be a little while before I post again. I have gotten so many fun comments on my last post - Our Favorites that My Romantic Home hosted - and I just wanted to say thank you to all who visited and left a comment. I am new to blogging, so it has been very fun for people to actually find me and leave comments! I have felt like a kid in a candy store every time I check my blog and have more comments. Thanks again!

Our Favorites

My Ladies and Gentlemen
Cindy at My Romantic Home has asked us to show our favorite things. One of mine is my Ladies and Gentlemen. Every time I bring home someone else, my family comments that the "head hunter" is at it again.

One Sunday on the way to church I was telling them about my lady that I want for my studio, aka "dress form." As they questioned me it came out that she would have no head, and no arms or legs - just a body. My son said, "So now you're not just hunting heads, you're hunting bodies, too?" Well, yes, I guess you could look at it that way. But somehow I prefer to think of them as my ladies and gentlemen.

This pretty little lady below came home with me from one of my favorite antique stores. They had brought her home from a flea market in England.

Bach and Beethoven came home with me from two different estate sales. I especially love Beethoven! He is very handsome.

The other living inhabitants here just stared when I bought jewelry for some of my ladies.

They are so fun! I can't wait till I can get my dress form. I am still trying to decide on her name. It has to be just right!

Thanks for visiting!

Christmas in July!
I have found a few vintage Christmas items in my running around the last few days. I am going to get these listed on ebay as soon as I can. I have two sets of these four Sue Zipkin dessert plates.

I also found these two little children's tea sets. They are so cute.
And I found this great set of four tall snowman mugs. They read Joy, Peace, Love and Harmony.
I have been listening to Christmas music some lately. My family just rolls their eyes. But, hey, there are only 156 days until Christmas!

Time to get busy!

Do you ever have trouble sleeping?

Well, I thought I would always post about projects I was working on in my house, or my flea market finds, etc. But I have been awake most of the night. Thinking. Wide awake. This seems to be one of the side effects of a hysterectomy. I mean, before my recent hysterectomy I was having trouble sleeping. I wake up a lot. Have to get up a lot. I eat. I read. I get on my computer. Sometimes I watch tv. This seems to be worse now - after my hysterectomy. And hot. I am always so hot!!!!!

Anyway, like I said I was awake most of the night last night. I kept closing my eyes. Trying to sleep. Close your eyes. Make them stay closed. Make them stay closed. But they just fly open. So while I was awake I was thinking a lot about one of my daughters, and praying for her. She is struggling with some things right now - being run down, some food allergy issues, being really tired and not feeling motivated, a job she hates, plus the stress of college (chemistry this summer), etc. I asked God to please give me wisdom to know how I could help her, and to pour Himself into her and give her strength, wisdom, protection, etc. The things He has impressed upon me are --- I think she and I need to pray together every day. And I think we will try to sit together every day and read our Bibles - maybe each on our own, maybe sometimes out loud to each other. But I know that we both need to be consistent in putting His Word into our hearts and minds every day. And I think we need to make sure that every day we sit and talk about whatever she needs to talk about that day. Even if it is just a few minutes.

Well, that is what is on my mind this morning. Since there are no pictures to go with this topic, I think I will just post a couple of pictures from my computer. After all, a blog post needs pictures, right? I tried this morning to take some new pictures, but my camera battery seems to be dead.

These next two pictures I took in a photography class I recently went to with one of my daughters.

And now I think I am going to have another cup of coffee.

Love That Sparkle!

Tales from an O.C. Cottage has asked us to post our Sparkle this week! How fun! I absolutely love crystals and dripping chandeliers!

I have two lamps - one table top size, one very little one - that match. They were my first lamps with beaded shades. Thus began a new obsession.

My next addition was this shade - I spent HOURS stringing these beads myself and adding them to a lamp I already had. Now you can find beaded trim everywhere to add to just about anything you can imagine!

When I brought my feather lamp home my family looked at me like I had lost my mind! This is one of my favorite pieces in my house!

Recently I bought this lamp for $7 at Gordman's. I came home and ripped the fabric off the lampshade, and hung some of my vintage jewelry on it. It sits on top of my kitchen cabinets - a nightlight for my middle-of-the-night kitchen raids.

My newest danglies are on a hanging candle holder that my sister gave me for my birthday - I absolutely love this!

Thanks for visiting. And have a sparkly day!

Well, it has been a few days since I posted. I have been very busy. We will have 30 people here on the 4th of July to swim and eat. So I have been cleaning everything from top to bottom. And I had to finish painting the backs of the bookshelves for my studio. Then my husband put the backs on and got them into my room. One of my kids helped me collect the books from all over the house that were supposed to be in here. So now this room is put back together. I still have several projects that I have not even started on for this room - curtains, a dress form (can't wait to get her!!!), some more artwork on the walls - but I am very happy with how it looks so far!

Eventually there will be trim going up and down at the edges and where the units meet to cover up the edges. And there will be crown molding all the way across the top. Then they will look like one large built-in unit.

This is the inside of my closet. I can sit at my desk with the closet open and just turn back and forth from the closet to the desk. All my scrapbook supplies and jewelry making supplies are in this closet.
Below are a few of the thumb tacks I made from vintage jewelry.
I found this little glass bucket at a thrift store. It sits on my desk and holds scrapbooking and jewelry making tools.

In case I don't have time to post again before Friday -

Hope you all have a very happy 4th of July!
