I Voted Today!
I just got back home from voting. It was so much fun! I went with both of my daughters. One is 20, so she has voted before, but this was her first time to get to vote for the president! My other daughter is 18, so this is the first time she has ever gotten to vote!

That was pretty cool - being with both my daughters while they voted in their first presidential election!

Now we just need to continue to pray!

This week The Nester is promoting buying handmade! She has a Mr. Linky up on her blog which will connect you to a lot of very talented women who are trying to run a home business, selling things they have created.

Wouldn't it be absolutely WONDERFUL if we could all buy some homemade items to give as gifts this Christmas! Click on the button below to go to The Nester and see the list for Handmade Holidays.

I have a lot of vintage jewelry bits, and some new jewelry bits. Combining the old and the new is what makes these bits so much fun to use!

Glittery Fall

I recently gilded some wooden fruit that I have collected over time. I still have some pieces that I have not finished yet. But the ones that are finished are piled on my silver tiered tray with some glittery picks from Hobby Lobby. Now this is my kind of fruit!

Pink Saturday

I do not have a lot of pink in my house, so I have never entered Pink Saturday before. But I just added these two wonderful pink items to my Etsy store, so I thought I would let y'all have a peek.
This Christmas centerpiece started with a wonderful sugar bowl I found at a flea market. I have added the glittery Christmas stems in pinks, greens, and silver to make this sparkly centerpiece. A sweet little shiny pink Christmas bird sits atop. I hung the little pink Christmas ornament from a silver chain on the front.
The sweet pink vase below is a beautiful vintage flower vase that I found at a flea market. It would be so pretty in a cottage or shabby chic room.
It would be fun to think that one of the "Pink Bloggers" would be able to take these home. Hope you enjoy your Pink Saturday.

A Happy Trip to the Mailbox!

My trip to the mailbox last night was certainly fun!!! I won the giveaway that Lisa at A Thing For Roses had last week. And I received my package full of goodies yesterday. And it was FULL of goodies. This first picture is how it all came out of the package. She sent me the current Romantic Country magazine (which I have a lot of trouble finding in stores!).

And the large clear package was full of MANY sheets of yummy vintage wallpaper! The colors and patterns are sooooo pretty. I will have so much fun finding projects to use these beautiful papers in!

The small clear package was full of WONDERFUL things. There are some sweet little calling cards - you can lift up the floral tag, and underneath in pretty script is the lady's name! - so CUTE! There are unique, beautiful buttons, old keys, some vintage rhinestone sparkle (my addiction!), and some bits of vintage lace, crochet and seam binding! A VERY FUN little bag!

And there was a tiny little clock face, which I absolutely love!

And she wrote me a sweet little note. It was so fun to open it all! THANK YOU SO MUCH, LISA!!!!!!! I absolutely love all of it!!!!

Hope y'all all have a wonderful day today!

A "Pretty Up Your Pumpkin" Party!

Sanctuary Arts at Home is hosting a "Pretty Up Your Pumpkin" party today. My first pumpkin (or rather, gourd) is my favorite! I looks like a giant apple! It is 7 INCHES tall! And it's real - this is not a faux gourd! It's just so cute. And all I did was hang some glittery leaf Christmas ornaments on silver chains, and hang these from the stem.
My copper glittered pumpkin is faux. I glittered this little pumpkin, and then made little necklaces from vintage jewelry. I love all things glittery, and am addicted to vintage jewelry - so this, to me, is pumpkin-alicious.And my outside pumpkin topiary - I am still looking for a dark green medium-size gourd to make a middle layer for this topiary. To see more pretty pumpkins, click below.

Thanks for visiting. Have a Pretty Pumpkin Day!

My Pottery Barn Knock-Off

001

Recently I saw a picture in one of the Pottery Barn catalogs that I absolutely loved - 3 bells that looked old, mounted inside black boxes. Being Pottery Barn, they were pricey.

002 003

Then one day I ran across four really old bells at an estate sale for $1.00 each! I snapped them up!

008 005

My husband built four wood boxes from scrap lumber that was rolling around in the garage, and I painted them black. I also spray painted some basic metal cup hooks (the shiny brass kind) and some silver chain - painted these in a dark brown color so they would look old.

Then I just hung the bells from the cup hooks using the chain. And for $4.00, plus a few cents for the cup hooks and a short length of chain, I have a Pottery Barn look-alike.
