Our Favorites

My Ladies and Gentlemen
Cindy at My Romantic Home has asked us to show our favorite things. One of mine is my Ladies and Gentlemen. Every time I bring home someone else, my family comments that the "head hunter" is at it again.

One Sunday on the way to church I was telling them about my lady that I want for my studio, aka "dress form." As they questioned me it came out that she would have no head, and no arms or legs - just a body. My son said, "So now you're not just hunting heads, you're hunting bodies, too?" Well, yes, I guess you could look at it that way. But somehow I prefer to think of them as my ladies and gentlemen.

This pretty little lady below came home with me from one of my favorite antique stores. They had brought her home from a flea market in England.

Bach and Beethoven came home with me from two different estate sales. I especially love Beethoven! He is very handsome.

The other living inhabitants here just stared when I bought jewelry for some of my ladies.

They are so fun! I can't wait till I can get my dress form. I am still trying to decide on her name. It has to be just right!

Thanks for visiting!

Shannon

Love your collection!

My dress form is one of my favorite things!
I named her Mrs. McGillicutty. I have more fun dressing her in vintage garments.
I actually linked to some of the posts I did about her on my "favorite things" post.

You little head hunter you! That is the funniest thing I've heard all night. I only have one bust, but she is so regal. They are perfect in that spot that nothing else will go in.

You have such a lovely collection! I was prepared to say which one I liked best. But by the time I finished looking at all your beauties, I couldn't pick just one.

And that comment your son made had me laughing right out loud and hubby just had to know what all the fuss was about. Too funny!

I love your collection of treasures. They are lovely. You have a gold and black frame with a lady in it. Is that frame a plastic frame? Do you know about how old that might be? I am asking because I stopped at a sale yesterday and purchased 2 gold and black frames that were plastic that had a the whole body of a lady in each one. I was told they had been in her attic for 50 years and before that belonged to her mother-in-law. I will attach pics at my blog too. I like mine and yours too! Nice blog.

This collection is "to die for." I've bid on similar "ladies, gentlemen and children" at quite a few auctions, but usually the bid goes beyond my budget. I know that I really need one for our new Tuscan great room, so you have spurred me on to try to win the bid at this week's sale (if there are any available). I might have to use the "head hunter" tag for my good friend who has quite a few of these guys!

Don't worry about the family, Shannon, many of us out here in blogville adorn anything and everything, too. Did you know Tiffany of Shabby Scraps is having a dress form party on August 1? I like your collection of busts and wish you luck finding a dress form.

Hi Shannon
The necklace looks so elegant on your lady! I wanted to let you know that I have posted pictures of the vintage ladies in their frames today on my site. I've put them into my bedroom and love them!
Hope you are having a great day.
